AMES, Iowa – Aug. 13, 2013 – Today, the Iowa Transportation Commission approved a Revitalize Iowa's Sound Economy (RISE) Immediate Opportunity grant application submitted by the city of Lime Springs. Up to $418,197 will be made available to assist in the reconstruction of approximately 300 feet of Plaza Drive, construction of approximately 750 feet of new roadway, and construction of a right-turn lane on U.S. 63 located on the west side of town. This project is anticipated to be completed by August 2014.
These improvements are necessary to provide access to Lime Springs Beef, LLC, a beef slaughter and processing facility, and will support the creation of 50 new jobs along with more than $7 million in associated capital investment.
The application was approved for up to $30,682 from the county share of the RISE Fund and $387,515 from the city share of the RISE Fund or up to 80 percent of the total RISE-eligible project cost, whichever is less.
