Road closure on Iowa 16 in Van Buren County begins Sept. 23 #iatraffic

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa – Sept. 16, 2013 – Removal and installation of a precast concrete box culvert on Iowa 16 approximately 1.7 miles west of the junction with Iowa 98 in Van Buren County will require closing the roadway beginning Monday, Sept. 23, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mount Pleasant construction office.  

Traffic will be detoured around the construction zone using Iowa 1, U.S. 34, and Iowa 16. Reilly Construction Co., Inc. of Ossian is the prime contractor for this $430,654 contract.

This project is expected to be completed by Oct. 7.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
