Iowa 38 bridge over I-80 closed for repairs and lane restrictions at exit 267 #iatraffic

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Nov. 4, 2013 – The bridge carrying Iowa 38/Cedar County Road X-54 over Interstate 80 at exit 267, south of Tipton, will be closed during  bridge construction work that also requires nighttime lane closures on eastbound I-80 until Wednesday, Nov. 27, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Davenport construction office.

Motorists wanting to travel south on  Cedar County Road X-54 from Iowa 38 will need to take westbound I-80 to exit 265, then east to exit 271, and then south on  Cedar County Road X-54.

Motorists wanting to travel north on Iowa 38 from Cedar County Road X-54 will need to take eastbound I-80 to exit 271, then west to exit 265, and then north on Iowa 38.

Eastbound I-80 will be reduced to one lane at Iowa 38 (exit 271) from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays until Nov. 27. An 11-foot width lane restriction will be in place in the open lane.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
