Lane closures on U.S. 6 (Hickman Road) in Waukee scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday #iatraffic

CRESTON, Iowa – April 14, 2014 – Removal and replacement of the median pavement to construct an eastbound turn lane onto Northeast Westgate Drive in Waukee will require closing the inside lanes of east- and westbound U.S. 6 (Hickman Road) from Warrior Lane to Alice’s Road in Waukee from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, April 15 and 16, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Creston construction office.

During construction, a 16-foot width restriction will be in place.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
