Nighttime intermittent lane closures on I-74 in Davenport begin Monday #iatraffic

DAVENPORT, Iowa – April 10, 2014 – Motorists should be alert to intermittent lane closures in both directions of Interstate 74 between I-80 (exit 298) and 53rd Street from 9 p.m. Sundays to 6 a.m. Mondays, and then from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays until 6 a.m. Fridays, beginning Monday, April 14, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Davenport construction office.

The work is required for the replacement of the East 67th Street overpass over I-74. This project will require replacing the bridge and a portion of East 67th Street, which is scheduled for completion on Nov. 15, 2015.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
