NEW HAMPTON, Iowa-August 27, 2015 - Progress on the bridge deck joint repair project will allow all lanes of northbound Interstate 380/westbound U.S. 20 near Evansdale to open tonight, weather permitting, from the River Forest Road interchange on-ramp through the I-380/U.S. 20/U.S. 218 interchange, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office. The River Forest Road westbound on ramp will also reopen tonight.
The eastbound lanes from the I-380/U.S. 20/U.S. 218 interchange east to the River Forest Road interchange will open during the day Friday, also weather permitting.
There will still be intermittent night time lane or shoulder closures until approximately mid-September for the completion of the project.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
