Hamilton County Road D-41 bridge over I-35 (exit 139) to close March 21 #iatraffic

MASON CITY, Iowa – March 20, 2017 – A bridge deck overlay project on the Hamilton County Road D-41 bridge over Interstate 35 (exit 139) will require closing the bridge to traffic beginning Tuesday morning, March 21, until June 2017, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mason City construction office.

Travel impact

  • I-35 traffic will not be affected by this project and the ramps will remain open to traffic.
  • Motorists on southbound I-35 wanting to travel east on Hamilton County Road D-41 will need to exit I-35 at the Ellsworth exit (exit 133), then take northbound I-35 to the Hamilton County Road D-41 exit (exit 139), and then travel east.
  • Motorists on northbound I-35 wanting to travel west on Hamilton County Road D-41 will need to exit I-35 at the U.S. 20 interchange (exit 142), then take southbound I-35 to Hamilton County Road D-41 (exit 139), and then travel west.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
