Posted on: March 21, 2017

CHARITON, Iowa – March 21, 2017 – Portland concrete cement paving work on southbound Interstate 35 in Warren County will require motorists to share the roadway with head-to-head traffic on northbound lanes of Interstate 35 between Warren County Road G-50 (exit 52) near Saint Marys and Iowa 92 (exit 56) near Bevington beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday, March 23, until Thursday, Sept. 28, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Chariton construction office.

There will be a 14-foot lane width restriction only in the southbound lane of the opposing traffic pattern on northbound I-35. An axel-load limit of 20,000 pounds will also be in effect with no vehicles more than 156,000 pounds allowed.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
