Nighttime lane closures on I-80 in Scott County begin April 2 #iatraffic

DAVENPORT, Iowa – March 28, 2017 – Hot-mix asphalt resurfacing work on Interstate 80 from Scott County Road Z-30 (exit 301) in Bettendorf to 1.1 miles east of Scott County Road Y-40 (exit 280) will require nighttime lane closures. These lane closures will occur when work is taking place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings beginning Sunday, April 2, until late October 2017, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Davenport construction office.

One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times and motorists should look out for flaggers in the construction zone. Motorists may experience travel delays and should allow additional time to reach their destination. The road construction project locations are listed below.

Westbound I-80 between Scott County Road Y-40 (exit 284) near Walcott:

  • And U.S. 67 (exit 306) near Bettendorf and the Mississippi River bridge.
  • And I-280/U.S. 6 (exit 290); and there will be a 16-foot height restriction.

Westbound I-80 in Davenport:

  • At I-280 and U.S. 6 (exit 290); and there will be 16-foot width lane restrictions in the open lane.
  • Between I-280/U.S. 6 (exit 290) and Iowa 130/Northwest Boulevard (exit 292); and a 16-foot-5-inch height restriction.
  • At Iowa 130/Northwest Boulevard (exit 292); a 10-foot width lane restriction and a 16-foot-6-inch height restriction.
  • Between Iowa 130/Northwest Boulevard (exit 292) and U.S. 61/Business U.S. 61/Brady Street (exit 295A); and a 16-foot-1-inch height restriction.
  • S. 61/Business U.S. 61/Brady Street (exit 295A); a 10-foot width lane restriction and also ramp restrictions at the entrance ramp.
  • At I-74 (exit 298); and a 10-foot width lane restriction and ramp restrictions at the entrance ramp.

Westbound I-80 in Bettendorf:

  • At Middle Road (exit 301); and a 10-foot width lane restriction and ramp restrictions at the entrance ramp.

McCarthy Improvement Co. is the contractor for this $9,662,885 project.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
