Iowa DOT News Release

Posted on: March 08, 2017

MANCHESTER, Iowa – March 8, 2017 – Road grading work for the future Southwest Arterial along U.S. 20 in Dubuque will require temporarily closing both east- and westbound U.S. 20 to traffic for approximately 20 minutes beginning at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Manchester construction office.

U.S. 20 will be closed from the intersection with Stone Valley Drive to the intersection with the Menards store entrance, or approximately 1.5 miles west of Iowa 32, to facilitate rock excavation by blasting. Due to the short duration of the closure, no official detour route will be posted and traffic will be allowed to resume as soon as it is safe to do so.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
