Update: Bridge cleaning on Iowa 136 over the Mississippi River in Clinton begins May 21 #iatraffic

DAVENPORT, Iowa – April 13, 2017 – A bridge cleaning project for the Iowa 136 Mississippi River bridge crossing in Clinton will require nighttime lane closures. These lane closures will occur when work is taking place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings beginning Sunday, May 21, until Friday, May 26, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Davenport construction office.

Through traffic will be maintained at all times. Motorists should look out for flaggers in the work zone.

Cramer & Associates is the contractor for this $95,000 project.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
