NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – April 12, 2017 – As part of a resurfacing project on U.S. 218 from Williston Avenue to Sixth Street in Waterloo, work to replace the northbound bridge approach on the east end of the viaduct bridge will begin Wednesday morning, April 12, and is expected to be completed mid-May, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office. Work will be completed in two stages with two 11-foot lanes of traffic maintained at all times.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
