SIOUX CITY, Iowa – May 10, 2017 – A reconstruction project to grade and replace Portland cement concrete pavement on U.S. 75 from north of Merrill to south of Le Mars, in Plymouth County, requires closing the southbound lanes and shifting traffic to a head-to-head traffic pattern in each direction on the existing northbound lanes beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, until Friday, Sept. 1, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 3 Office.

Traffic impacts

  • Plymouth County Road C-38 will be closed at the intersection with U.S. 75 and will reopen after construction is complete.
  • Traffic on Plymouth County Road C-38 will be detoured around the closure at U.S. 75.
  • A 11-foot width lane restriction will be in place for traffic in both directions on U.S. 75.

Cedar Valley Corp. was awarded the $8.2 road construction project.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
