MANCHESTER, Iowa – June 29, 2017 – Road grading work for the future Southwest Arterial along U.S. 61/151 in Dubuque will require temporarily closing both north- and southbound U.S. 61/151 to traffic for approximately 20 minutes intermittently between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on various Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the month of July, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Manchester construction office.
U.S. 61/151 will be closed from the intersection with Elmwood Drive to the intersection of Digital Drive, or approximately one-half mile north of U.S. 151, to facilitate rock excavation by blasting. Key West Drive and Olde Davenport Road will also be closed near U.S. 61/151 during the same times. Due to the short duration of the closures, no official detour route will be posted and traffic will be allowed to resume as soon as it is safe to do so.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
