CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Sept. 21, 2017 – A construction project to widen the exit ramp to Boyson Road (exit 25) from northbound Interstate 380 in Hiawatha will begin at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Cedar Rapids construction office.
Traffic will be maintained at all times with temporary barrier rail sections installed to separate the open lane and the work zone. In order to install the rail sections safely, this exit ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, and 4 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25. During this short closure, traffic should use Blairs Ferry Road (exit 24B).
Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes to avoid delays. LL Pelling Co. of North Liberty is the contractor for this project, which is scheduled for completion by Nov. 10.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
