Public-private partnership leads to new Iowa DOT park and ride location in Davenport

Posted on: October 24, 2017

AMES, Iowa – Oct. 24, 2017 – The Iowa Department of Transportation continues its implementation of the Iowa Park and Ride System Plan with the launching of a new park and ride location in Davenport. The new park and ride site is free to the public and can be used when connecting with rideshares, car pools, and public transit.

This park and ride location was established through a public-private partnership between Thunder Bay Grille in Davenport and the Iowa DOT. This partnership demonstrates how public and private organizations can work together to expand transportation options for traveling Iowans.

The park and ride lot at Thunder Bay Grille is located approximately one-half mile south of Interstate 80 at the intersection of North Brady Street and Veterans Memorial Parkway. This site, which is accessed via Jason Way Court, can support nearly 55 vehicles and is located adjacent to Davenport’s CitiBus Red Line 4 route and can be scheduled as a pick-up location for River Bend Transit’s daily park and ride shuttle service. Services and schedules for these transit organizations are available online as listed below.
