GRIMES, Iowa – Nov. 13, 2017 – A construction project to widen Iowa 141 from 37th Street to First Street (Iowa 44) in Grimes is nearing completion. The contractor will be repainting pavement markings to the normal travel lanes, which requires single lane closures from 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, until to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office.
Extensive delays on westbound Iowa 141 are anticipated during the painting process. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes. Motorists on Interstate 80/35 through Rider Corner are asked to be alert for any traffic backups that may occur.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
