NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – Nov. 17, 2017 – Motorists driving on U.S. 63 in Waterloo will be able to use the southbound lanes between Jefferson Street and Franklin Street beginning this Monday, Nov. 20, by noon, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

Drivers can expect lane closures in both directions of U.S. 63 south of the Cedar River bridge through Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Northbound U.S. 63 between Jefferson and Franklin streets will return to only northbound traffic until next construction season when northbound U.S. 63 will be reconstructed. There will be lane closures in this area through Tuesday, Nov. 21 to remove the current paint markings for two-way traffic and put down new paint for one-way traffic.

U.S. 63 will remain closed between Dane Street and Newell Street through Tuesday, Nov. 21.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
