MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa – April 6, 2018 – A grading project at U.S. 61 and Plank Road north of Burlington will require closing Plank Road, south of Flint Creek, to traffic beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, April 13, until October 2018, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mount Pleasant construction office.
U.S. 61 will remain open during this project. However, access to and from Plank Road from U.S. 61 at mile marker 44 will be restricted. Residents living near the Plank Road closure will be able to access U.S. 61 using Sunnyside Avenue.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
