BRITT, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Transportation's Britt construction office, in cooperation with the city of Nora Springs, has approved the closure of a bridge on Floyd County Road B-30 (old U.S. 18) for Monday, May 5.

The closure is necessary to remove the old bridge and construct a new one. During the closure, traffic will be detoured on Floyd County Road S-70, then south to the Avenue of the Saints (Iowa 27/U.S. 218), then east to Rudd at Floyd County Road B-30.

Minnowa Construction of Harmony, Minn., is the prime contractor for the $1 million project. Completion is expected in September.

The Iowa DOT asks motorists to drive with caution and obey posted signs in the construction area. As in all construction zones, drivers should stay alert, watch their speed, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear their seat belts.
