Rail crossing rebuild to begin June 2 in Le Grand
AMES, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Transportation's (Iowa DOT) Office of Rail Transportation has scheduled a primary highway–railroad crossing rebuild on Iowa 146 in Le Grand to begin June 2, weather permitting.
The construction project on Iowa 146 in Le Grand includes the complete rebuilding of the railroad crossing and installation of new approaches. Work will be completed by Union Pacific Railroad and Iowa DOT crews. Weather permitting, the project is scheduled to last approximately five working days. While the project is in process, a detour will be in place utilizing Marshall County Road E-49, Tama County Road T-47 and U.S. 30.
The Iowa DOT asks motorist to drive with caution and obey posted signs in the construction area. As in all construction zones, drivers should stay alert, watch their speed, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear their seat belts.
