U.S. 218/ Iowa 27 interchange at Washington County Road G-36 work to begin Monday, March 24


MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Transportation's Mount Pleasant construction office has approved plans to close Washington County Road G-36 from the east side of the Underwood Avenue intersection east through the intersection with U.S. 218/Iowa 27, including the park and ride lot, beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, March 24.

The closure is necessary for work to begin on the interchange with U.S. 218/Iowa 27 at Washington County Road G-36. Local traffic will be allowed on G-36 intersections outside the construction area, but truck traffic on G-36 will be directed through a marked detour established by the county engineer's office (See truck detour map below)

he full diamond-type interchange construction project involves a $3.2- million contract awarded to C.J. Moyna and Sons of Elkader for grading and paving, and a nearly $1-million bridge contract to Godbersen-Smith Construction Company of Ida Grove. Work is expected to be completed by late November.
