Iowa 92 construction at Knoxville moving into final stages

CHARITON, Iowa – Sept. 25, 2008 – As part of the final phase of construction on Iowa 92 at Knoxville, both east- and westbound traffic will be moved into the outside lanes Monday, Sept. 29, weather permitting, according the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Chariton construction office.

The lane shift is necessary for the contractor to proceed with paving the Iowa 92 interchange ramps at Iowa 14 and Iowa 5. Beginning Tuesday, Sept, 30, the contractor plans to work on the eastbound Iowa 92 entrance and exit ramps at Iowa 14 and the westbound Iowa 92 entrance ramp on Iowa 5, weather permitting.

Due to construction, the Iowa 14 exit ramp from westbound Iowa 92 will be closed for approximately two weeks. Motorists will be assisted by a marked detour.

Other progress on Iowa 92 included the scheduled opening of the exit ramp to 110th Street on Monday, Sept 29.

The Iowa DOT asks motorists to drive with caution and obey posted signs in the work area. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, obey posted speed limits, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
