Routine bridge inspection restricts lanes on Iowa 14 in Marion County Monday


MARTENSDALE, Iowa – Sept. 26, 2008 – A routine bridge inspection of the mile-long bridge over Red Rock Lake on Iowa 14 in Marion County will restrict the roadway to one lane on Monday, Sept. 29, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation.

The routine inspection is expected to be in progress from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the roadway reduced to one lane during the inspection. The open lane will be restricted to a 12-foot lane width limit. Flaggers and a pilot car will be used to assist motorists through the work zone.

The Iowa DOT asks motorists to drive with caution and obey flaggers and posted signs in the work area. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, obey posted speed limits, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
