Lane closed on I-74 Mississippi River bridge Sunday

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Jan. 30, 2009 – Installation of intelligent transportation system equipment will close the northbound (Iowa-bound), left lane of the I-74 Mississippi River bridge on Sunday, Feb. 1, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Davenport maintenance office. AMES, Iowa – Jan. 30, 2009 – Railroad repairs in the city of Dunlap have caused the closure of Iowa 37 at U.S. 30 today from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, weather permitting. The Iowa Department of Transportation reports traffic on U.S. 30 will not be affected. A detour is posted for Iowa 37 traffic. Water line repairs to restrict right lane of eastbound I-235 ramp at 14th Street today

AMES, Iowa – Jan. 30, 2009 – The right lane of the exit ramp from eastbound I-235 to East 14th Street (U.S. 69) will be closed again today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weather permitting for Des Moines city crews to complete the repair a water line. AMES, Iowa – Jan. 29, 2009 – The combination of light snow and cold surface temperatures could result in icy roadways due to a phenomenon called wheel-track glazing. Wheel-track glazing is caused by warm tires trapping the ground-level blowing snow. As more vehicles travel over the same wheel tracks a glaze of ice forms, which becomes very slippery.
