Bridge maintenance causes lane closure on westbound I-80 in Poweshiek County today

AMES, Iowa – March 17, 2009 – The right lane on westbound Interstate 80 between Iowa 146 (exit 182) and U.S. 63 (exit 191) in Poweshiek County will be closed today because of bridge maintenance, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT).

In addition to the lane closure, a 12-foot width lane restriction will be in place. All loads wider than 12 feet will be required to use the U.S. 63 exit ramp and re-enter the interstate at the Iowa 146 on-ramp.

The bridge maintenance work is scheduled to wrap up for the day by 3 p.m. today.

The Iowa DOT asks motorists to drive with caution, obey posted signs in the work area. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, obey posted speed limits, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
