Bridge work restricts I-80 lanes in Cass County beginning April 6

CRESTON, Iowa – March 30, 2009 – A bridge replacement project will restrict lanes of Interstate 80 in Cass County beginning April 6 and lasting through July, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Creston construction office.

The bridge project will close the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 in from milepost 59 to milepost 61. Traffic will be routed in a head-to-head pattern in the westbound lanes. There will be a 55 mph speed limit in effect in the work zone.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted signs in the work area and that traffic fines double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, obey posted speed limits, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
