Iowa 26 projects begin today in Allamakee County

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – March 30, 2009 – Construction work could disrupt traffic Iowa 26 from Lansing north to New Albin in Allamakee County beginning today, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

Work associated with this project will include adding extensions on 11 separate box culverts and completing the necessary grading work at each site. Throughout the summer, intermittent lane closures could be in place at several different locations on Iowa 26 from Lansing to New Albin. When necessary, traffic will be assisted through the work area by flaggers. Minor delays can be anticipated within the project limits.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
