Iowa 3 to close at the Iowa/South Dakota border in Plymouth County
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – March 27, 2009 – Iowa 3 in Plymouth County will be closed at the bridge over the Big Sioux River beginning Monday, March 30, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Sioux City construction office.
The bridge construction project will cause traffic to be detoured using South Dakota’s Union County Road 2 north to South Dakota 48, then east across the Big Sioux River onto the Big Sioux River Road to Iowa 12, and then south to Iowa 3. The project is expected to be completed and the road reopened by the end of November, weather permitting.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
