Lane restrictions begin Monday on I-80 at the Cedar River Bridge

DAVENPORT, Iowa – March 30, 2009 – Construction of new bridge approaches on Interstate 80 at the Cedar River Bridge one mile west of the west junction of Iowa 38 in Cedar County is expected to restrict traffic beginning Monday, April 6, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Davenport construction office.

Construction work may be performed until 1 p.m., but no closures will be allowed between the hours of 1 p.m . to 7 p.m. or on University of Iowa football game days.   While workers are present, one lane of both east- and westbound I-80 will be closed to traffic. The open traffic lanes will have a 14-foot lane width restriction.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
