Nighttime road construction work causes lane restrictions and ramp closures on I-74/Mississippi River bridge in the Quad Cities beginning March 19
DAVENPORT, Iowa – March 18, 2009 – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that nighttime road construction work on Interstate 74 near the Mississippi River bridge is scheduled for the nighttime hours of Thursday, March 19, Monday, March 23, and Tuesday, March 24, to replace the sign trusses over I-74, weather permitting.
The project will be completed at night with work beginning at 8 p.m. and all lanes open to traffic by 6 a.m. The road work will restrict traffic to one lane each night.
In addition to the lane restrictions, the following ramp closures are scheduled.
· Bettendorf on-ramp for traffic from State Street entering I-74 to go to Illinois will be closed all three nights.
· Exit ramp to 3rd Avenue in Moline will be closed Thursday night (March 19).
· 7th Avenue exit ramp will be closed Monday and Tuesday nights (March 23 and 24).
The Iowa and Illinois departments of Transportation remind motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
