Resurfacing project on U.S. 52 begins March 23
MANCHESTER, Iowa – March 19, 2009 – A patching and asphalt resurfacing project will begin Monday, March 23, on U.S. 52 between Luxemburg and Guttenberg, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Manchester construction office.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width limit and an 8-foot width granular shoulder. This restriction is scheduled to be in effect during the daytime hours, Monday through Friday. Flaggers and a pilot car will assist traffic through the work area. Normal driving conditions will resume when workers are not present.
River City Paving of Hazel Green, Wisc., is the prime contractor for this $2.6 million resurfacing project, which is expected to be completed in late May or early June, weather permitting.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted signs in the work area and that traffic fines double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, obey posted speed limits, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
