Resurfacing projects on U.S. 69, Iowa 17 and Iowa 175 to begin Monday
JEFFERSON, Iowa – March 30, 2009 – Four hot-mix asphalt resurfacing projects are scheduled to begin April 6, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Jefferson construction office.
The following projects will cause traffic to be restricted to one lane.
U.S. 69 in Hamilton County
· From Iowa 175 to the north city limits of Jewell
Iowa 17 in Boone and Hamilton counties
· From Boone County Road E-18 to Iowa 175 in Hamilton County
Iowa 175 in Webster and Hamilton counties
· From Webster County Road P-70 to Iowa 17 in Hamilton County
· From Iowa 17 to U.S. 69 – all in Hamilton County
The restrictions will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The projects are expected to be completed August 15, weather permitting.
Mathy Construction Co. of Onalaska, Wisc., is the prime contractor for these asphalt resurfacing projects totaling more than $8.4 million.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
