Resurfacing projects on U.S. 69, Iowa 17 and Iowa 175 scheduled

JEFFERSON, Iowa – March 17, 2009 – Four hot-mix asphalt resurfacing projects will begin April 6, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Jefferson  construction office.


The following projects will cause traffic to be restricted to one lane.


U.S. 69 in Hamilton County

·         From Iowa 175 to the north city limits of Jewell


Iowa 17 in Boone and Hamilton counties

·         From Boone County Road E-18 to Iowa 175 in Hamilton County


Iowa 175 in Webster and Hamilton counties

·         From Webster County Road P-70 to Iowa 17 in Hamilton County

·         From Iowa 17 to U.S. 69 – all in Hamilton County


The restrictions will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The projects are expected to be completed August 15, weather permitting.


Mathy Construction Co. of Onalaska, Wisc., is the prime contractor for this $8,436,984.12 asphalt resurfacing project.


The Iowa DOT asks motorists to drive with caution and obey posted signs in the work area. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, obey posted speed limits, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
