Lanes restricted on U.S. 69 in Ankeny
DES MOINES, Iowa – March 25, 2009 – Work has begun again this season on the construction project on U.S. 69 on the north side of Ankeny, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Des Moines construction office.
The current project has work remaining that involves the grading and paving of southbound U.S. 69 from N. 28th St. to N. 36th St. Turn lanes will also be added at sideroads from N. 18th St. to N. 28th St. During the project, traffic is being maintained in a head-to-head pattern in the northbound lanes. The new lanes are expected to be completed by July 1, weather permitting.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted signs in the work area and that traffic fines double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, obey posted speed limits, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
