I-29 traffic lanes reduced in Woodbury County beginning next week
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – April 30, 2009 – Beginning Monday, May 4, Interstate 29 from south of the city of Little Sioux north to north of Onawa will be restricted to one lane in each direction, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Sioux City construction office.
Roadway construction in the area will cause one lane in each direction of the interstate to be closed and reduce the open lanes to a 16-foot lane width restriction. This closure is part of a larger project causing lane restrictions in this area during the next two construction seasons.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
