Lane closures start on I-29 in Harrison County
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – April 23, 2009 – Bridge reconstruction on Interstate 29 1 mile north of exit 72 (Loveland interchange) over the Boyer River began Wednesday in Harrison County closing one lane in both the north- and southbound lanes, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Council Bluffs construction office.
Traffic will be maintained through the construction zone in each direction with the use of temporary concrete barrier rail. The open traffic lanes will have a 14-foot-6-inch lane width restriction.
The reconstruction project is scheduled for completion late this fall, weather permitting.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
