Iowa DOT News Release

Lanes restricted on Iowa 139 in Winneshiek County

Posted on: April 30, 2009

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – April 30, 2009 – Maintenance work on pavement joints will cause intermittent lane closures on Iowa 139 in Winneshiek County for the next few weeks, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) New Hampton construction office.

Intermittent lane closures can be expected on Iowa 139 from just north of the junction with Iowa 9 north to the Minnesota state line. When closures are in place, traffic will be assisted through the work area by flaggers and a pilot car. The roadway will be returned to normal traffic patterns when workers are not present.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
