Work under bridges restricts lanes on I-35 in Warren County this summer

CHARITON, Iowa – April 30, 2009 – Reconstruction work under four bridges on Interstate 35 in Warren County will cause intermittent lane closures through July, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Chariton construction office.

The intermittent lane closures on north- and southbound I-35 will occur under bridges at mileposts 43 (Warren County Road G-76), 47 (Warren County Road G-64), 49 (Quaker Street), and 52 (Warren County Road G-50). During the lane closures, the open lane will have a 14-foot lane width restriction. This work is part of a larger project to resurface I-35 from the Clarke/Warren county line north to Clanton Creek, just south of the Iowa 92 interchange.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
