I-80 and Iowa 130 interchange work begins Monday
DAVENPORT, Iowa – May 29, 2009 – A project at exit 292, the interchange of Interstate 80 and Iowa 130, will cause intermittent lane restrictions beginning Monday, June 1, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Davenport construction office.
The project, scheduled to begin Monday, will involve an asphalt overlay and widening of the shoulder on Iowa 130 at the I-80 interchange. This work will cause intermittent lane and shoulder closures until the end of November, weather permitting. When lane closures are in place, the open lane will have a 12-foot lane width restriction.
Contractors will be working at the same interchange to reconfigure the westbound I-80 exit ramp. Motorists may experience intermittent, overnight lane closures on this ramp until late November.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
