Lane closures on U.S. 63 in Bremer County to start May 20

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – May 19, 2009 – Road construction work in process on U.S. 63 in Bremer County will cause lane closures between Iowa 93 to Iowa 188 beginning Wednesday, May 20, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) New Hampton construction office. The contractor will begin paving a temporary median crossover on U.S. 63 approximately ¾ mile south of the Iowa 188 intersection.

Wednesday and Thursday, May 20 and 21, traffic restrictions will include a lane closure with traffic being assisted through the work area by flaggers. This project is expected to be completed by noon Friday, May 22, weather permitting.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
