Roadway patching project closes lane of eastbound I-80 in Poweshiek County beginning next week

Posted on: May 28, 2009

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – May 28, 2009 – One lane of eastbound Interstate 80 will be closed near Grinnell next week, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Marshalltown construction office.

The patching project from exit 182 (Iowa 146) and exit 197 (Poweshiek County Road V-18) will close one lane of traffic June 2-4. Additional day- and nighttime lane closures may be necessary for patching work through June 12. After June 12, only nighttime lane closures will be allowed. This patching work is being done in preparation for an asphalt resurfacing project scheduled for September.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
