NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – May 27, 2009 –The westbound lane on Iowa 57 will be closed from Grundy County Road T-55 to U.S. 218 at 7 a.m. Thursday, May 28, until 6 p.m. Friday, May 29, for the removal of the paved shoulder on Iowa 57 between New Hartford and Cedar Falls, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) New Hampton construction office.
When the lane closures are in place, traffic will be assisted through the work area by flaggers and a pilot car.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
