Road maintenance work to restrict lanes on southbound U.S. 218 in Washington County Tuesday and Wednesday

FAIRFIELD, Iowa – June 29, 2009 – Road patching operations scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, June 30 and July 1, on southbound U.S. 218  will cause the right lane to be closed between mileposts 81 and 79 (Iowa 22/Kalona interchange), weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) District 5 office.

This patching project will be completed by 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
