U.S. 20 reduced to one lane in Ida County beginning July 6
CHEROKEE, Iowa – June 26, 2009 – Construction work on U.S. 20 in Ida County will restrict the roadway to one lane beginning Monday, July 6, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Cherokee construction office.
The project area on U.S. 20 from U.S. 59 to Iowa 110 will cause one lane to be closed when workers are present. Traffic will be assisted through the work area by flaggers and a pilot car. The project is expected to last through August, weather permitting. The roadway will be returned to normal traffic when workers are not present.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
