CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – July 31, 2009 – Construction work will close the loop ramp from southbound I-380 to eastbound I-80 and also the loop from eastbound I-80 to northbound I-380 in Johnson County overnights Sunday and Monday, Aug. 2 and 3, weather permitting,  according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Cedar Rapids construction office.

Hot mix asphalt resurfacing in the area will cause the closures Sunday night, Aug. 2 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and Monday night, Aug. 3 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Traffic will be routed on a marked detour during the closures.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
