I-80 closure in Omaha set for overnight Sept. 2

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – Aug. 25, 2009 – The Nebraska Department of Roads is planning to close Interstate 80 from the Iowa border to the JFK interchange in Omaha overnight Tuesday, Sept. 2, weather permitting, in order to remove two sign structures.

The closure is expected to be in place from 11 p.m. Sept. 2 to 6 a.m. Sept. 3. Westbound I-80 traffic will be directed to northbound I-29 and I-680. Southbound I-29 traffic will be detoured to I-480.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
