Joint and crack sealing to restrict lanes on several eastern Iowa roads through September
DAVENPORT, Iowa – Aug. 25, 2009 – Contractors will be working to seal joints and cracks on several eastern Iowa roads, causing intermittent lane closures, beginning Sunday, Aug.30, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Davenport construction office.
Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures on the following roads though the end of September.
- U.S. 61 in both directions from Scott County Road F-33 north to Silver Creek
- U.S. 151 from Church Street in Fairfax north to U.S. 30 in Linn County
- U.S. 6 from 12th Avenue East to Hawkins Drive in Coralville (closures not permitted on University of Iowa home football game weekends)
- Iowa 64 from U.S. 61 to U.S. 67 in Jackson County
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
