Iowa 21 lanes reduced in Keokuk County

Posted on: September 29, 2009

CHARITON, Iowa – Sept. 29, 2009 –  Intermittent lane restriction will be in place on Iowa 21 in Keokuk County until the end of October, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Chariton construction office.

The construction project from the junction of Iowa 149 north to the junction of Iowa 92 will cause intermittent lane closures, taking the roadway down to one lane. When closures are in place, traffic will be assisted through the work area by flaggers and pilot car.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
