Traffic control changes start soon in Britt

MASON CITY, Iowa – Sept. 30 – To enhance safety, the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is updating traffic control at the U.S. 18/Hancock County Road R-35 (Main Avenue North) intersection in Britt.

The intersection will be changing from a two-way stop to an all way stop beginning Oct. 20. On Oct. 6 the Iowa DOT will place changeable message signs on eastbound and westbound U.S. 18 near the intersection alerting drivers to the upcoming traffic control change.  The city of Britt will install similar signs on northbound and southbound R-35/(Main Avenue North) warning drivers of the changes. 

The new stop signs at this all-way stop intersection will also include red flashing beacons.
